First they pull off your arm, and then they pluck out your eye, and then, when they figure you’re close enough to dead that you won’t flail around, they roll you overboard to watch you drown.

Suckers. You’ve got a lot of blood to lose and a lot of breath to hold. 

And then some mermaid comes singing—off-tune—up from the depths and breathes into your mouth and drags you under. She probably thinks she’s being helpful.
